CreateDepartment creates a new department for the organization.

/api/v1/engagements/contacts/departments

Departments categorize contacts by their business unit or function.

Common Departments​

  • Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Finance, HR, Operations
  • IT, Customer Success, Legal, Executive

Parameters​

  • name: Required, unique name within organization (max 100 chars)

Response​

Returns the created department with assigned ID.

Errors​

  • INVALID_ARGUMENT: Name is empty or exceeds 100 characters
  • ALREADY_EXISTS: Department with same name exists in organization
  • PERMISSION_DENIED: Caller lacks contacts:settings:write permission
